Bread in Art History: A Journey Through Culture, Tradition and Flavours

An event dedicated to bread, a cornerstone of our diet and a universal symbol of culture, sharing and tradition.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Casa dei Mezzadri in Paderno di Ponzano Veneto hosted “Bread in Art History: From Food to Universal Symbol”, a cultural event exploring one of the oldest and most meaningful foods in human history.

Organised by G.A.C. Milo Burlini with the support and patronage of the Municipality of Ponzano Veneto, the event featured Lorena Gava, art historian and critic, who guided the audience through a fascinating journey exploring the representation and symbolic significance of bread throughout art history. The event was presented by Laura Gracis.

The evening concluded with a convivial gathering dedicated to the art of breadmaking, led by Emanuele Bianchin, a baking and pastry instructor at the Fondazione Lepido Rocco in Lancenigo, together with his students.

The young participants demonstrated their skills and passion for the art of baking, presenting a selection of high-quality breads and other baked goods. Their dedication highlighted how a craft deeply rooted in tradition can offer valuable opportunities for future generations.

Molino Bertolo is delighted to have supported this initiative, which successfully brought together art, culture and breadmaking, while highlighting the dedication and enthusiasm of young people pursuing a career in this traditional craft.

Supporting the next generation and helping preserve and pass on the knowledge and traditions of breadmaking means investing in the future of an industry to which Molino Bertolo has always been deeply connected.
