“Continuity”: art, tradition and heritage for Molino Bertolo

On Sunday, May 4th 2026, at the Molino Bertolo facility in Covolo di Pederobba, the monumental sculpture “Continuity” by iron sculptor Valentino Moro was officially unveiled. The artwork was created to celebrate the long history of the Bertolo family and their deep connection to the milling tradition handed down since 1742.

The sculpture embodies the values that have guided Molino Bertolo for generations: tradition, dedication, family continuity and innovation. At its center stands a large wheel, symbolizing both the milling process and human progress, while water represents the driving force behind the mill’s history and activity.

“We wanted to celebrate our family business with a work by master Moro because art calls for art. The art of milling deserved to be represented by someone capable of creating works of such intensity,” said Enrico Bertolo during the inauguration ceremony.

Through iron, stone and dynamic forms, Valentino Moro sought to tell the story of a family that has passionately preserved the miller’s craft for more than two centuries. The figure symbolically supporting the wheel’s central pivot represents Antonio Bertolo, Enrico Bertolo’s grandfather and heir to a long dynasty of millers who firmly believed in the value of tradition.

“I wanted to imprint in ‘Continuity’ the thread that unites five generations of the Bertolo family,” explained sculptor Valentino Moro, emphasizing how the connection with nature lies at the very heart of the miller’s profession.

Art critic Lorena Gava also highlighted the symbolic strength of the work: “Stone and iron participate in the action of water, the true driving force that for many years has provided work and sustenance. A powerful tree trunk binds man inseparably to the wheel, symbolizing the enduring union and loyalty of a family to a profession that continues to resist and renew itself.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local authorities and representatives of the community, including the mayors of Pederobba and Cornuda, Marco Turato and Enrico Gallina, who praised both the cultural value of the sculpture and the historical journey of Molino Bertolo.

With “Continuity”, Molino Bertolo celebrates not only its own history, but also its bond with the local territory and with an ancient craft that continues to live on through passion, quality and dedication.
